Justin Timberlake handcuffed, arrested, criminally charged and arraigned in Sag Harbor

Popular singer, songwriter, actor, former child cast member of Disney’s Mickey Mouse Club and later NSYNC boy band member Justin Timberlake was arrested in the Hamptons early this morning after officials with New York’s Sag Harbor Police Department said that he blew through a stop sign and was driving his 2025 BMW erratically. Reportedly, an officer witnessed the dangerous driving, pulled him over, and later reported that a strong smell of alcohol emanated from Timberlake – and that he was intoxicated.
Timberlake drove through a stop sign and swerved into a lane of oncoming traffic at 12:37 a.m. Tuesday, according to Sag Harbor Village police.
Police determined Timberlake was driving drunk, had bloodshot, glassy eyes and “a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage” emanating from his breath, according to the criminal complaint. He also had slowed speech, was unsteady on his feet and performed poorly on a field sobriety test, the complaint said. ~ ABC News
Police took the 43-year-old pop star into custody and detained him overnight. He was transported to the Sag Harbor Village Justice Court, where he was arraigned at 9:30 this morning. He was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated (DWI) and then released on his own recognizance, according to The New York Times.
In addition of his one count of DWI, Timberlake was also written up for two citations, one for running a stop sign and one for failure to keep in lane, according to People. He has a hearing scheduled for July 26, one where he will be able to appear virtually.
A source said that the “Selfish” hitmaker, 43, was arrested on DWI charges after having dinner at the American Hotel in Sag Harbor. He was pulled over after leaving the establishment to drive to his friend’s house. “Nobody was hurt,” the source said.
Timberlake is currently on tour to promote his most recent album, “Everything I Thought It Was.” Sources say that upon his arrest, Timberlake muttered “This is going to ruin the tour”, to which the arresting officer replied, “What tour?”
