A popular South Korean singer and actress was found dead in her home in Seoul.  Local police there say that 28-year-old Goo Hara, family name Goo, was found dead in her residence around 9 p.m. local time on Sunday.  On Saturday evening, she had shared a final Instagram picture of herself in bed that was captioned simply, “Good night.”  Goo has 1.5 million followers on Instagram alone.

Police say the cause of death is still under investigation. She appeared at a series of comeback performances last week after being hospitalized in May following an alleged suicide attempt.

The singer later apologized for causing “concerns and a commotion” among her fans over the incident. Reports said her manager had, at the time, found her unconscious.  ~ BBC

Goo’s popularity dates back to her days as part of the popular South Korean girl group Kara. She performed along with group-mates Park Gyuri, Han Seungyeon and Heo Youngji from 2006 – 2016.  In 2015 she released a solo album Alohara (Can You Feel It?) that reached No. 4 on the Korean music chart that same year, according to Newsweek.  In 2011, she was acting in the TV drama “City Hunter.”

Her fans are sharing their grief and shock on Twitter:

One person tweeted: “what’s happening right now is devastating.. another angel has found her way home. rest in peace, beautiful. fly high, goo hara.”

“You’ve worked so hard to stay alive despite the war you battle inside that dark, broken, and wrecked soul of yours. You can rest now, Goo Hara,” wrote another.

“K-pop idols are humans too. They get hurt. They don’t deserve hate. We never know what they are going through. Respect them for who they are. Make them feel as if they are the loved. May this amazing woman Rest In Peace, we love you Goo Hara,” another person tweeted.

Even more tragically, Goo was close friends with another popular South Korean pop star and actress,  Sulli, who was found dead inside her home south of Seoul this past October, also from an apparent suicide.
