Yesterday morning, commercial broadcast network ABC-TV announced that the “ABC News Presidential Debate between Vice-President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump” will be held at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, on Tuesday, September 10 at 9 p.m. EDT.  The debate, hosted by the ABC network, will also be available for streaming viewing on ABC News Live, Disney+ and Hulu. ABC anchors David Muir and Linsey Davis will serve as moderators.

Debate plans are welcome news to many as the possibility of Harris going up against Trump in a debate venue had been up in the air ever since President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race and passed the baton over to his vice-president.  Originally, Biden and Trump were scheduled to meet for their second debate on September 10; but that date didn’t automatically translate into a Harris / Trump matchup.

In early August, Trump said he was withdrawing from the Sept. 10 debate and instead proposed debating Harris on Fox News on Sept. 4. The Harris campaign said it would stick to the original plan for the ABC News debate. Days later, the Trump campaign said the ABC News debate was back on and proposed two additional debates. ~ CBS News
