Little girl, 3, goes airborne caught in kite strings as onlookers watch in horror
An innocent and unsuspecting three-year-old girl was attending the Hsinchu City International Kite Festival in the seaside town of Nanliao, Taiwan, on August 30 when she became entangled in the strings of a giant, long-tailed orange kite. In the blink of an eye, strong winds lifted the kite – along with the child – upwards of about 12 feet into the air.
Horrified bystanders tried desperately to reach for the girl.
Gusty winds whisked the girl into the air and violently whipped her around above a crowd of screaming adults, according to video from the scene.
The unidentified girl remained in the air, rising and falling with the wind, for about 30 seconds before adults were able to grab her and pull her back to earth, according to Taiwan English News.
Fortunately, “all’s well that ends well.” The unidentified child was recovered in a frightened state, but was relatively unharmed except for some scrapes around her neck and face, according to NBC News.
