An unbelievable tale of child neglect and abandonment unfolded in Palm Beach County, Florida, yesterday with a woman dumping her three children off at three separate locations in the Palm Beaches.  The abandoned kids ranged in ages from 12 months to eight years.  The youngest, still a baby, was found abandoned – and closed and locked inside an SUV.

The saga began yesterday around 5 a.m. when the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call.  The caller claimed that an adult female driving a 2018 white Chevy SUV Equinox abandoned an eight-year-old child at the gas station located at Okeechobee Boulevard and Drexel Road in unincorporated West Palm Beach.

Four hours later on the same day around 9 a.m., the West Palm Beach Police Department received a call stating an adult female abandoned a three-year old child at the Publix grocery store located on S. Rosemary Avenue in West Palm Beach.

Fifteen minutes later, at approximately 9:15 a.m., the West Palm Beach Police Department received information that the vehicle police had been searching for – the 2018 white Chevy SUV Equinox – was spotted and located on the corner of Sunrise and North Ocean Boulevards in Palm Beach.

When police officers arrived at the location of the SUV, they spotted an adult female walking away from the vehicle.  The woman who was walking away from the SUV had just abandoned a one-year-old inside the closed and locked Chevy SUV Equinox.

One witness said she feared the worst when she saw all the police activity surrounding the SUV.

“They put the baby in the ambulance and that’s when it started crying. We knew it was okay and that it had at least survived,” said Jill Slack.  ~ CBS News, Miami

Officers with the West Palm Beach Police Department caught up with the woman and transported her to the West Palm Beach Police Department for questioning.

Upon interviewing the woman, investigators confirmed that she did in fact abandon the children at the three separate locations identified above.

Police were able to identify the woman as 36-year-old Miesha Perkins of Louisiana.

Detectives learned that Miesha and the children’s father were in route from Louisiana to Palm Beach County. Somewhere along the way the father was removed from the vehicle. Once Miesha arrived in Palm Beach County she began to abandon the children, one-at-a-time.

Perkins was arrested on three counts of child neglect.
