Man abandons his 8-month-old baby in the road, kills the baby with his car as he drives away
On Saturday, January 25, Florida’s Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) reported on the arrest of a 20-year-old man who after getting into an altercation with the female passenger in his car, stopped the car and took his eight-month-old baby out of the car and placed the baby in the road – and then ran the baby over as he drove away.
The man arrested for leaving his baby in the middle of a deadly intersection and then hitting and killing the baby with his car has been identified as Justin Golden, who was chased down by Jacksonville Traffic Homicide Detectives and taken into custody. Golden and the women in the car are believed to be the parents of the baby that was killed.
Golden has since been charged with aggravated manslaughter and vehicular homicide for taking this young life. He is now locked up in the Duval County jail, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
This tragic and senseless incident went down around 10:39 a.m. on Saturday when law enforcement officers responded to a call at the intersection of Lenox Avenue and McDuff Avenue in Jacksonville in connection with a crash involving a single vehicle and a child.
Upon their arrival, officers located what appeared to be an infant in the roadway, and witnesses advising the child was struck by a vehicle that had left the scene. Members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department arrived and transported the child to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
According to officials, “Golden took the baby out of the car before leaving the scene, hitting the baby with the car. The baby died.” Officials also said that Golden “was quickly taken into custody and is now facing charges of “aggravated manslaughter and vehicular homicide for taking this young life.”
