Officers were already present and intervened when Duvall approached the demonstrators with the bat. After detecting the odor of alcohol on Duvall’s breath, he was administered sobriety tests and placed under arrest without incident.
Police charged Duvall with two misdemeanors: second degree assault and disorderly conduct, He was also charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Duvall was transported to an area hospital for treatment of an undisclosed medical condition and released on his own recognizance on June 24 following a bail review hearing.
There are five Vince’s Crab House locations; and all stayed closed for more than a week following the owner’s racial remarks. Vince Meyer later told The Baltimore Sun that he had “a ton of remorse” for the racist comments he made.
