Man savagely beats wife and tries to bury her alive in the sand on a California beach
On February 26, the Coronado Police Department, headquartered in Coronado, California, released word that they had received a 911 call the evening prior from a 22-year-old woman who stated that her husband had just tried to kill her on the beach. Officers responded to the 900 block of Ocean Blvd. and found the severely injured woman on the sidewalk.
Police said that the woman and her husband went to the beach earlier in the evening on Thursday. At some point they got into an argument and the man began attacking his wife.
“While they were on the beach, he began choking her to the point where she went unconscious,” Detective Ryan Brennan told KFMB-TV.
“She was dragged by her hair to the water.”
He attempted to throw her into the ocean; then he tried burying her in a hole in the sand.
“She said there was a hole in the ground and the hole had previously been there from probably kids digging it during the day,” Brennan told another local station KSWB-TV.
“But during the struggle, she said he threw her into that hole and began putting sand on top of her.”
Brennan went on to say that while she was still in that hole in the beach, her husband kicked her repeatedly – but then suddenly stopped his attack and simply ran off.
“We don’t know what scared him away,” the police official said. “Perhaps it was someone walking by,” according to the news outlet.
The woman escaped and ran towards Ocean Blvd. where she was found on the sidewalk by a passerby. Paramedics arrived on the scene and transported her to a trauma center in San Diego. The woman’s murderous husband was located a short time later hiding in the backyard of a home on Alameda Blvd.
