Kevin Seefried, the man seen strutting through the Capitol Building carrying the Confederate Flag during the insurrection and riot in Washington D.C. on January 6, was charged in federal court on Thursday with one count of knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority, one count of violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, and one count of depredation of government property.  What makes this case even more deplorable is that Seefried allowed his son, Hunter Seefried, to accompany him as he broke into the Capitol.  Hunter Seefried was arrested and charged along with his father.

Hunter faces an additional charge of destroying government property. Both of the Seefrieds are residents of Laurel, Delaware and were arrested on January 14 in their home state.

It is alleged that during the events at the U.S. Capitol, Kevin Seefried and Hunter Seefried entered the Senate Building through a broken window and, shortly thereafter, Kevin Seefried was photographed holding a Confederate Battle flag inside the Capitol Building. ~ U.S. Attorney’s Office

Following his arrest, Seefried the elder informed the authorities that he regularly flies the Confederate Flag outside of his Laurel home.

The FBI, which circulated Kevin Seefried’s image on social media, was tipped off to the father and son from a co-worker of Hunter Seefried, who told law enforcement officials that Hunter Seefried “bragged about being in the capitol with his father,” according to court documents. An attorney representing Hunter Seefried at the hearing said his client had “recently lost his job.” ~ Delaware Online

Depending on how their cases fall out, the father and son duo could each be looking at more than 10 years behind bars and $250,000 in fines.

Court documents cite video footage from the riot which allegedly shows Hunter helping to break a window allowing him and scores of other protesters to enter the Capitol building at around 2:13pm on January 6.

Both Hunter and his father are alleged to have climbed through the window.
