Man trying to break into Essex home shot and killed by homeowner

A man trying to break into an Essex, Maryland, home on Saturday was shot and killed by the homeowner. Baltimore County Police say that at around 9:45 p.m. on December 9, officers responded to the 1000 block of Middlesex Road for reports of a shooting. Once on the scene, officers located an adult male who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. That individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives say that their preliminary investigation shows that an armed suspect was attempting to break into the resident’s home. The homeowner discharged his firearm, striking the suspect. While detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this case, they ask anyone with pertinent information or surveillance in reference to this crime to contact homicide detectives by calling 410-307-2020.
