Man wanted for robbing Sun City Arcade victim of their winnings captured in Fort Pierce
On March 15, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office (IRCSO) reported that members of their U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested a wanted robbery subject, Travessa Merricks, in Fort Pierce, Florida. Merricks had an active warrant for Robbery in Indian River County after an investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division.
During the investigation, a victim reported to detectives they were robbed by Merricks when they left the Sun City Arcade with their winnings. For those not familiar with the Sunshine State, “arcades” in Florida are the local gambling parlors dotted across the state.
The IRCSO arrest warrant ordered Merricks to be held on $100,000 bond. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Merricks has an extensive criminal history that includes prison sentences for carjacking with a deadly weapon, burglary, cocaine sale, flee and eluding, and trafficking in stolen property.
The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office also said that they’d like to remind criminals that, “if you commit crimes against our community you will be aggressively searched for and arrested.”
