Maryland gang investigation nets three arrests plus seized fentanyl, cocaine, weed, guns, cash, AK-47

Over the weekend, the Prince George’s County Police Department reported on their most recent Gang Unit investigation which led to the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of multiple weapons and thousands of fentanyl pills.

The suspects taken into custody were identified as:

  • 26-year-old Dream Edwards of Columbia, Maryland,
  • 22-year-old Romel Johnson of Laurel, and
  • 34-year-old Michael Jordan Thompson of Washington, D.C.

During the course of their investigation, detectives executed a search warrant at a home on Avebury Drive in Laurel. Four firearms, 300 fentanyl pills and other items of evidence were recovered. A subsequent search warrant of two vehicles connected to the suspects led to the recovery of an AK-47, three pounds of marijuana and three thousand fentanyl pills.

Five total firearms were seized, and in addition to the AK-47, police said another gun had a clip that enabled it to be fully automatic when fired.  Police also said they seized five pounds of marijuana, 45 grams of crack cocaine, and more than $5,000 in cash.  ~ WJLA

Edwards and Johnson are both charged with multiple charges which include firearms offenses and drug trafficking related offenses. Thompson is charged with multiple drug-related offenses.
