Barrack Mission:
Troopers from the Bel Air Barrack have the responsibility for providing full police services in Harford County. This county is a suburban area, 13 miles north of Baltimore City, with a population of over 242,000 people and encompassing 440 square miles. Duties of a Bel Air trooper range from keeping our highways safe through directed traffic enforcement, investigation of a full-range of criminal activity and investigation of motor vehicle accidents. The Bel Air Barrack was one of the first Maryland State Police installations in Maryland and was born soon after the birth of the Maryland State Police in 1921. We are incredibly proud of our crime fighting heritage which has endured for 90+ years.Â
