Mass shooting at downtown Orlando Halloween celebration: Two dead, six more injured (Video)
In the early morning hours of November 1, officers with Florida’s Orlando Police Department responded to calls of shots fired at approximately 1:07 a.m. Friday morning in the area of Central Boulevard and Orange Avenue, in downtown Orlando, where a large crowd had gathered to celebrate Halloween. Sheer minutes later, a second report of shots fired came in regarding another round of shooting near Washington Street and Orange Avenue. Officers were already on the scene, had already received a description of the shooter – and spotted him immediately after the second shooting.

Victims ranged in ages from 19 to 39 years old. The shooting suspect has been identified as a 17-year-old male, Jaylen Dwayne Edgar. Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith announced at a press conference this morning that Edgar was quickly apprehended immediately following his second round of shootings on the streets of Orlando. WSB Radio reported Smith as saying that the shooter had a prior arrest for grand theft in 2023.
According to WESH, anywhere from 50,000 to 100,000 revelers were on the streets of Orlando celebrating Halloween when the shootings occurred. Police haven’t been able to say yet whether the shootings were targeted or random.
The police have released videos showing the suspect opening fire into the crowd before fleeing the scene. Below, check out the Police Chief’s Press conference and video showing the shootings and the chaos that ensued.
