Melvin Arias: Wanted for the shooting murder of woman in Ocala
On January 13, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) in Ocala, Florida, shared the photo (see above) of a man suspected of a shooting murder that occurred a day earlier in their town. At 1:57 p.m. on Friday, January 12, deputies responded to 168 Marion Oaks Boulevard in Ocala in reference to that shooting.
When law enforcement arrived on the scene near a local gas station, they located the victim, 47-year-old Milagros Guzman Lopez. Tragically, she was already deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.
According to witnesses, 33-year-old Melvin Arias arrived at the location where Lopez was, and an argument ensued in front of the business.  Arias then retrieved a firearm from his vehicle, shot Milagros Guzman Lopez; and then he fled the scene, according to witness statements shared by the deputies.
Currently, deputies and detectives are looking for Arias who has a warrant on him for the murder of Milagros Lopez. Reportedly, Arias has ties to Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic (his country of birth, according to an earlier arrest affidavit), New York, and at least one other state.
If you have any information on his whereabouts, please call 911. Â
The Sheriff’s Office stressed that Arias should be considered armed and dangerous.
