Michelle Obama announces her own TV series to debut on Instagram this January
Michelle Obama, former First Lady and currently the “Most Admired Woman in the World” for the second year in a row, is parlaying her popularity into the launching of a new video series to premier on Instagram later this January. Her new show, “A Year of Firsts,” will follow the exploits of four college freshmen as they try to make their way through their first year of college-life.
“ATTN” describes the new venture as a video series that will provide a platform for sharing inspirational stories and helpful insights of students navigating through their first year of college. ATTN will also be producing the new series for IGTV.
“As a first-generation college student myself, I know how intimidating it can be to take that leap and pursue your educational dreams,” Obama said in a blog post. “That’s why I’m so proud of these students. By sharing their stories, they’re helping others see that the ups and downs of the first year of college are something everyone goes through — and they’re creating a supportive community for others facing similar challenges.” ~ CBS News
In an Instagram video she posted on January 7, Obama describes that the four college freshmen starring in “A Year of Firsts” have “overcome tremendous odds to get where they are;” and also that the students will be completely candid about sharing those experiences during the course of the series.
