Missing California mother of four found murdered, manhunt is on for her estranged boyfriend
On January 3, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office reported that the case of a missing Plainview, California, mom, Brittney Steenbergen, has tragically evolved into a homicide case – and a manhunt now ensues for the woman’s boyfriend, identified as Adel Hussein..
Steenbergen, the mother of four, was last seen alive and at her Plainview home on December 28, 2019. Around 4:30 p.m. on December 31, Emergency Dispatch received a 911 call from a child at the Steenbergen residence reporting that her mother, Brittney Steenbergen, was missing. Also reported missing during that 911 call was Adel Hussein, Steenbergen’s estranged live-in boyfriend and father to her children.
Tulare County Deputies responded to the home to check on the welfare of the four children and to find out more about the missing parents. Steenbergen and Hussein were not at the home when deputies arrived. The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit and Forensic Unit took over the investigation.
During the investigation, Detectives learned there was a possible domestic violence incident that had occurred. They also discovered that the family vehicle was missing: a dark blue 2007 Toyota RAV4 with California license plate number 5XNS883.
Yesterday officials reported that the RAV4 was found abandoned in El Centro, California, near the U.S.–Mexico border.
