Murder and more: Charges brought against two men busted after high-speed chase on I-95
Yesterday, Ace News Today reported about the high speed I-95 chase though Palm Beach County and Martin County that ended in car crash and the arrest of a fugitive who was on the run for murder. Also yesterday, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office announced charges brought against that captured murder fugitive, and charges brought against the driver of the Chevy Malibu who led law enforcement on that May 23 high-speed chase.
Jamarquis Makhi Williams, 19, of Riviera Beach, Florida, was taken into custody on a first-degree murder warrant, and 20-year old Marquavious Shyqwan Davis of West Palm Beach was charged with three counts of fleeing and eluding, and driving with a revoked driver’s license after deputies used a vehicle intervention technique, the PIT maneuver, to stop the fleeing vehicle.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force alerted the Martin County Sheriff’s Office that a vehicle with a murder suspect had just fled from law enforcement in their jurisdiction and was headed northbound into Martin County at speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. Martin County Deputies attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver. Marquavious Davis, increased his speed and continued to make a run for it.
Deputies then conducted a PIT maneuver to stop the fleeing vehicle. All three occupants were then ordered out of the car. They initially did not comply.
Deputies released a tear gas cannister inside the vehicle, which ultimately forced the suspects to come out without further incident.
Jamarquis Williams was identified as the person who had a warrant for first degree murder with a firearm. The third person in the vehicle was not charged with a crime and released.
All three occupants in the car were medically evaluated for injuries and cleared before Davis and Williams were booked into the Martin County Jail.
