South Florida’s Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) announced that their Homicide Unit was investigating a deadly stabbing that occurred in North Lauderdale early Saturday morning, April 12.  At approximately 1:50 a.m. on April 12, law enforcement received a 911 call regarding a stabbing in the 1800 block of Runners Way in North Lauderdale.

BSO deputies and North Lauderdale Fire Rescue responded. On scene, deputies located two adult female victims suffering from stab wounds. Paramedics transported them to an area hospital.

Maguy Pouye was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The second victim, Isabelle Joseph, was treated for her injuries and was listed in critical condition. Reportedly, the subject fled the scene. BSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene units responded to investigate the incident.

During their investigation, detectives determined that 56-year-old Vital Joseph, who used to reside at the residence and at one time was in a relationship with Pouye, was the suspect in the stabbings.

Late Saturday night, Joseph was arrested by the Palm Bay Police Department with assistance from the Florida Highway Patrol. Joseph was booked into the Brevard County Jail on charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and burglary of a dwelling with a battery.

There was no mention of the relationship between Vital Joseph and the stabbing victim that survived the carnage, although they do share a last name. For more on the story, see the video accompanying this article.
