Naples woman shoots ex-boyfriend in the butt following domestic dispute
A woman from Naples, Florida, was arrested and jailed following criminal charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm in public.
As Collier County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) deputies were responding to the scene of the shooting on Tuesday around 6 p.m. and headed for the corner of Radio Road and Sherbrook Drive, they received a separate radio notice that the shooter was a woman who took off in a white Honda Civic. She allegedly shot a man she knew following a domestic dispute.
The shooting suspect was later tracked down and identified as 30-year-old Catherine Michelle Cruz of Naples.
Fox News reported a witness on the scene as telling deputies that they saw the shooting victim “fleeing the scene on a bike before police arrived.” By the time deputies arrived, they discovered the victim still on the scene with a gunshot wound in his right buttocks cheek.
Cruz later stated to detectives that she has been afraid of the victim, identified only as “JT,” for over a month because of all the threats he has made toward her and her daughter. According to CCSO, Cruz stepped out of her vehicle and shot JT after seeing him riding along Radio Road. ~ NBC2 News
Cruz and the man she shot reportedly dated previously for about seven months.
JT was transported by the EMS to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Cruz was taken to the Naples Jail Center where she was awaiting bond.
