
New study reveals the foulest mouthed NFL fanbase for every team (not kidding, really!)

Direct from Ace News Today’s “Strange News” and “Things that make you go hmm” files, now that the NFL season is officially over and the Philadelphia Eagles have been named Super Bowl Champions, it’s time to move into a more cerebral football topic, like this new study that’s been awarded to “the most foul-mouthed NFL fanbase” over the course of the last season.
No … really. The latest research from betting picks, parlays, predictions and news brand, FlashPicks, analyzed the latest 5,000 posts made by fans in each NFL team’s official Reddit fan forum, from February 2025 back to September 2024 and ranked the number of sweary posts made by fans.
And we are not only bringing you the Top 10 Sweariest NFL Fans, but where each and every NFL team’s fanbase falls in terms of its sweariness.
So, what fans are the sweariest?
The study reveals that the most foul-mouthed fanbase in the NFL is the Detroit Lions fans, with a score of 10 out of 10. A whopping 288 posts including bad language were posted in the Lions’ Reddit fan forum this season, which makes up for 5.76% of their total posts.

Note that the Las Vegas Raiders fans rank in second place, with a shocking 5.48% of posts published on the Raiders official subreddit this season including bad language, which equates to 274 sweary posts. Raiders fans’ favorite curse word to post was found to be the ‘F-word’ and it was published 63 times this season – the joint most by any NFL fanbase alongside Baltimore Ravens fans, contributing to an overall score of 9.5 out of 10.
Pittsburgh Steelers fans were found to be the third most rude fanbase, with 4.76% of posts in the Steelers’ official subreddit containing bad language this season, which equates to 238 posts. Steelers fans were found to be the most likely fanbase to post ‘motherf*****’, used 17 times since September. All in all, giving Steelers fans a score of 8.3 out of 10.
Washington Commanders fans rank in fifth place, with a score of 7.4 out of 10. The Commanders fanbase published 214 sweary posts this season, which equates to 4.28% of their posts since September. The curse word ‘b**ch’ was posted 17 times in the Commanders subreddit – the second most of any NFL fanbase, only second to Lions fans.
The Houston Texans fans rank in sixth place, with 4.14% of posts including profanity, while Atlanta Falcons and Minnesota Vikings fans are tied for seventh place, both with 3.84%.
According to the study, the Baltimore Ravens fans are the ninth rudest fanbase, with 190 curse words posted, making up for 3.8% of their total posts. While the New York Jets fans complete the top ten, with 170 sweary posts, resulting in 3.4% of their total posts.
Commenting on the research, Callum Broxton, Head of Operations at FlashPicks said: “With the NFL season coming to a close and the Philadelphia Eagles taking home their second Super Bowl trophy, we decided to take a look back at the season and find out which supporters will be awarded the most foul-mouthed fanbase.”
“As we all know passion is a hallmark for NFL fans across the US, with fans showing their support for their teams in the stadium cheering on their team and posting on social media. This study goes to show some of the most fierce supporters in the NFL this season, although it’s worth bearing in mind that foul-mouthed fans are still in the minority at each team.”

- Data was collected and is correct as of 10/02/2025.
- The selected curse words include the top 10 swear words used in America reported here, along with five additional common swear words: A*s, A**hole, B****rd, B**ch, Bulls**t, Cr*p, C**t, Damn, D**k, Douche, F**k, Hell, Motherf*****, P***y, S**t.
