New York man said it was his clothes, not sex, that got an 11-year-old child pregnant

Robert Cronin, 33, of Niskayuna in upstate New York, admitted to being the father of a child born to an 11-year-old girl – but claimed that he never actually had sex with the little girl.  Instead, his story is that it was just his clothes that got that little girl pregnant.  DNA testing confirmed that Cronin is the biological father of the baby born to the 11-year-old.

The New York Post reported Cronin as telling Albany’s WTEN-TV that he was acquainted with the 11-year-old and that the little girl got pregnant “after coming in contact with clothing he had used while masturbating.”  He also told the media that he didn’t want to be known for a crime he didn’t commit.

Officials in Niskayuna, New York, didn’t buy Cronin’s story and took him into custody this week.  Police in New York said that Cronin came into their radar after being notified to the 11-year-old’s pregnancy via a child abuse hotline. Following his arrest, police charged Cronin with endangering the welfare of a child and felony predatory sexual assault against a child younger than 13, according to Fox News.

Cronin, who has five other children with his fiancée, was transported to Schenectady County Jail where he was being held without bail, according to WRGB.

In the video accompanying this article, you can see and hear Cronin admitting to being the father of the baby born to the 11-year-old and saying, “When I found out, everything around me just collapsed because I knew what this would lead to.”

The 11-year-old child and her new-born infant daughter are both being safely cared for, according to police.
