Newly released prisoner, 5-time convicted felon, busted in Naples with meth, fentanyl, crack, more
During a June 8 traffic stop, deputies with Florida’s Collier County Sheriff’s Office arrested a convicted felon who was newly released from prison and caught with the deadly opioid fentanyl and some other illicit drugs.
“Our deputies are doing everything they can to rid our streets of this poison and those who peddle it,” Sheriff Kevin Rambosk said.
Thomas James White, 38, of the 21000 block of Della Drive, Naples, is in the Collier County jail charged with multiple narcotics felonies including trafficking crystal meth. White is a five-time convicted felon in Florida whose arrest comes less than two weeks after his release from prison.
Around 7 p.m. deputies stopped a vehicle on U.S. 41 East for multiple violations. White was a passenger in the vehicle. Deputies conducted a probable cause search after a CCSO K9 alerted on the vehicle for the presence of narcotics. The search turned up a trafficking amount of crystal meth (20.9 grams).
Deputies also found fentanyl, crack cocaine, Xanax, and marijuana. The drugs were inside a safe next to White’s belongings. White had the keys to the safe in his right shorts pocket.
Deputies also arrested the driver, 35-year-old Kelsey Edwards of Moon Bay St., Naples, on a charge of possession of narcotic paraphernalia.
