On December 2, the National Football League announced disciplinary actions of three players for violating jointly developed and administered NFL-NFLPA COVID-19 protocols.

Tampa Bay’s Antonio Brown and Mike Edwards have each been suspended without pay for the next three games. Free agent John Franklin III, if signed by a club, is also ineligible to play in his next three games. All three players have accepted the discipline and waived their right of appeal. The suspensions became effective yesterday.

And things might have gone just a bit farther than simply “mispresenting their vaccine status” as there are allegations brewing that Brown and others got themselves fake vaccine cards (see the video below.)

A review conducted by the N.F.L. and the N.F.L. Players Association concluded that Brown and two other players, Edwards and the free-agent receiver John Franklin III, had acquired fake vaccination cards. Franklin will have to sit out three games if he is signed by a team. The Tampa Bay Times on Nov. 18 first reported that Brown had obtained the card, prompting the review. ~ The New York Times

Last month, Antonio Brown was accused by a former live-in chef of obtaining a fake vaccination card in an apparent attempt to duck the NFL’s vaccine protocols. ~ Sports Illustrated

The NFLPA represented the three players during a joint NFL-NFLPA review into the recent allegations that players misrepresented their vaccination status under the NFL-NFLPA COVID-19 Protocols.  That review supported those allegations and found that the three players violated the protocols.

The NFL and NFLPA said in a joint statement:

“The health and safety of players and personnel is our top priority. The protocols were jointly developed working with our respective experts to ensure that we are practicing and playing football as safely as possible during the ongoing pandemic. The NFL-NFLPA jointly reinforce their commitment and further emphasize the importance of strict adherence to the protocols to protect the well-being of everyone associated with the NFL.”

If the players did indeed procure and produce fake vaccine cards, it remains to be seen if any criminal actions can be taken against them.
