Off-duty Baltimore cop nabs bank robber in the act
An off-duty Baltimore County Police officer nabbed a bank robber in the act on October 28. That officer later discovered that the man he arrested was wanted by the FBI Baltimore, Maryland Field Office for numerous bank robberies across the region, including a bank robbery earlier this month in Annapolis, Maryland.
Officer E. Legge of the Woodlawn Precinct was inside Bank of America in the 7900 block of Honeygo Boulevard in Perry Hall on Monday when a man walked up to the teller station next to him and placed a backpack on the counter. Moments later the man left the bank with the backpack and the teller announced she’d just been robbed.
Officer Legge chased after the suspect across the parking lot where he was able to apprehend the man and call for a uniformed officer response. The first responding officer, Officer R. Cross of the White Marsh Precinct immediately recognized the suspect from an FBI wanted suspect release as Fletcher Myea Dorsett, 51, with no fixed address. Dorsett was arrested and transported to the Baltimore County Department of Corrections on no bail status.
WBAL-TV in Baltimore reported that Dorsett was also identified as the suspect who robbed the Wells Fargo Bank at 930 Bay Ridge Road in Annapolis on October 16. Annapolis PD said that during that robbery, Dorsett handed a bank teller a note demanding money, “and implied he had a weapon,” and then fled the scene on foot.
