Officials release surveillance video of Pompano Beach triple shooting
On December 12, detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) Violent Crimes Unit released surveillance video of a triple shooting that went down in Pompano Beach, Florida, on Wednesday, December 6. Investigators are seeking the public’s help to positively identify all the individuals involved. Although there were three people wounded as a result of the shootings, none of the gunshots proved to be life-threatening.
The shooting occurred at approximately 4 p.m. on the afternoon of December 6 near the 1700 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. One of the victims told investigators that several individuals approached him as he was walking in the area and that during the encounter, a verbal altercation took place.
According to the victim, when he began to walk away, three of the unknown individuals lifted their waistbands and revealed their guns. That’s when the victim says he pulled out his gun and fired in self-defense as the subjects fired back.
Surveillance video of the incident shows the victim walking on the sidewalk when five subjects approached him. Moments later, gunfire erupts, and the subjects are seen fleeing the area.
Detectives say three people were shot during the ordeal, the victim, an innocent bystander shopping at the store and another male subject. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue transported the shopper to an area hospital for treatment. The other two who were wounded arrived at the hospital on their own. All three suffered injuries that were described by detectives as being nonlife-threatening.
