Okeechobee teen charged with child porn and extorting local girls for sex

On January 12, Florida’s Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 17-year-old local Okeechobee teen Angelo Sontai-Perez, who has been charged with Extortion -Soliciting a child for unlawful sexual conduct, and two counts of Sexual performance by a child; child pornography.

In October of 2023, a female student reported to Okeechobee High School administrators and School Resource Deputies that Sontai-Perez was actively coercing her to perform certain acts via text and through various social media apps.  Due to those allegations, the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division was requested to conduct an official criminal investigation.

The initial interview with the reporting young female student confirmed that the criminal acts she reported, were in fact taking place, and further revealed several other potential young victims.  An investigation that included interviews with several other victims led to search warrant requests for Angelo Sontai-Perez’s telephonic devices.

Once the requested records were produced and reviewed, it was determined that Sonati-Perez met the criteria to be charged with the aforementioned criminal acts.  Officials also believe there are likely additional young victims out there.

The victims’ names are not being released in accordance with Marcy’s Law.
