One dead in Harford County motorcycle crash

Tragic news coming out of Harford County where the Maryland State Police say that they are still investigating a fatal single-vehicle motorcycle crash that occurred last night.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m., Troopers from the Maryland State Police Bel Air Barrack responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash that occurred in the 2600 block of Whiteford Road in Whiteford. According to a preliminary investigation, a Honda motorcycle was traveling north when the vehicle went off the roadway and struck a telephone pole.

The operator of the Honda motorcycle involved in the crash, identified as Jason Birley, 50, of Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Harford County Emergency Medical Services personnel. 

The weather in Harford County yesterday was described as “cold and rainy” by a local resident. Whiteford Road was closed for approximately two and a half hours following the crash. Police say that the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
