Pennsylvania kidnapping suspect of Maryland infant girl arrested, Amber Alert cancelled
A man who authorities say assaulted his girlfriend and then kidnapped the woman’s infant daughter is now in custody. Following an Amber Alert issued on behalf of the baby, kidnapping suspect Keith Kyle, 35, of Meyersdale, Pennsylvania (Garrett County,) was apprehended in Pennsylvania and held as a fugitive from Maryland. The baby was recovered unharmed.
An arrest warrant had been issued in Maryland charging Kyle with kidnapping, home invasion and assault.
Shortly after 10:00 a.m. on September 27, Maryland State Police troopers responded to a restaurant parking lot in Grantsville, Maryland, for the report of an assault. Troopers learned from the suspect’s girlfriend that he had assaulted her and was leaving the parking lot in his car, with her nine-month-old daughter. WJLA identified the young kidnap victim as nine-month old Brady Sellers.
Troopers attempted to stop the car as it was speeding out of the parking lot, but the driver – who was later identified as Kyle – fled onto eastbound I-68 and, while committing numerous traffic violations, took exit 24 and headed into Pennsylvania.
