Peoria man charged with making violent threats against former President Donald Trump
Yesterday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois announced that a man has been indicted on federal charges for threatening to commit violence against former President Donald Trump, a federal judge, and the former United States Attorney for the Central District of Illinois.
Damien Grant, 33, of Peoria, Illinois, was charged with three counts of influencing a federal official by threat, two counts of mailing threatening communications, and one count of threatening the President of the United States. The indictment was returned this week in U.S. District Court in Peoria.
According to the indictment, On November 30, 2020, Grant stated in a letter addressed to the U.S. Attorney for the Central District of Illinois, “You have 2 days to drop all charges and investigations against me or im going to make sure you never see Christmas…I might have someone walk in the Court House and blow all you evil [expletive] to pieces.”
… Grant allegedly sent a letter to Trump on December 22, 2020, that stated: “And the moment you walk out of office, I’m going to have you shot! Right in your [expletive] head… im going to make a nacho and sit back and laugh when your head splatters all over your wife and Secret Service.” ~ ABC News in Chicago
The indictment accuses Grant of sending those threatening letters in December 2020 to Trump and a U.S. District Judge in the Central District of Illinois.
Grant’s arraignment has not yet been scheduled.
