Philly cops want to nab boys who broke into and robbed the S.S. United States vessel (Video)
In a submission to Ace News Today’s “Strange News” and “Brazen Criminals” categories, law enforcement officials in Philadelphia yesterday posted images and a video of three young men wanted for breaking into and robbing the S.S. United States, a famous ocean liner that has been docked in the Port of Philadelphia for the last few years.
According to our friends in the Philadelphia Police Department, on October 2 at approximately 1:40 a.m., the suspects pictured above were captured on surveillance video on Pier # 82 at 2205 S. Christopher Columbus Boulevard in Philly and reportedly gained access to the S.S. United States without permission. Approximately three hours later, the suspects were seen exiting the S.S. United States with several items, again without permission to use the Philly PD’s own words.
According to officials:

The S.S. United States first graced the ocean waters back in the 1950s, and the massive, gleaming ocean liner only remained in active service for less than 20 years. And its time is coming to a close. The iconic ship will soon be making its final voyage and will be sunk and turned into an artificial reef in accordance with a museum in Okaloosa County, Florida.
The SS United States held – and, incredibly, still holds today – the fastest transatlantic speed record for a liner, and possessed a secret double identity. Two-thirds of its $78 million construction costs had been subsidized by the US government so that the liner could be requisitioned by the military and converted to a troop transport ship with the capacity to carry 14,000 soldiers. ~ CNN
