Pictured: Ma & Pa Trail homicide suspect wanted for the murder of Rachel Morin
Rachel Hannah Morin, a 37-year-old mother of five, went hiking on Saturday, August 5 along the Ma and Pa Heritage Trail in Bel Air, Maryland. She was last seen around 6 p.m. that evening – and tragically, that was the last time she was seen alive. On August 6, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) reported that the deceased remains of a female were found just off that nature trail – remains that were eventually determined to be Rachel’s and that her manner of death was a homicide.
There was never any talk about a suspect in Rachel’s murder until yesterday, when the Sheriff’s Office announced that DNA obtained during the course of her murder investigation matched up with a suspect identified in a residential burglary and assault that went down on March 26 in Los Angeles. Los Angeles Police Department detectives have been in contact with Harford County Investigators to provide any and all information needed to bring the person responsible for such a brutal and senseless murder to justice.
Officials in Los Angeles are committed to helping bring Rachel’s murderer to justice and promised to “provide any additional information we may uncover as we proceed with our burglary and assault investigation.”
There is still no name attached to that suspect and officials are seeking the public’s help in identifying him. The still unidentified and unknown male is described as being:
- approximately 5’ 09’’,
- 160 pounds,
- approximately 20-30 years of age,
- dark hair,
- muscular build, and,
- is believed to be of Hispanic decent.
Officials warn that the photos of the suspect (see below) are not current ones, taken within the last six months, and that his hairstyle may have changed. This individual is believed to have ties to the Los Angeles area and may have been involved in violent crimes in other states. Anyone who can identify this suspect, or has any additional information, is asked to contact the Harford County Sheriff’s Office at their tip line, (410) 836-7788, or via email at RMtips@HarfordSheriff.org.
