Police in Delray Beach put drug dealers on notice
Police in Delray Beach, Florida, took to social media on November 22 to put drug dealers trying to do business in their town on notice.
What happens if you deal illegal drugs on the streets of Delray Beach? The Delray Beach Police Department will make sure that jail becomes your new home.
On October 8th, while Delray Beach Police Department agents were conducting surveillance on a separate case, they noticed a drug deal going down on one of their streets. The agents recorded the suspect’s tag and began an investigation.
Coincidentally, a few days after the illegal drug transaction, agents received a Crime Stoppers tip regarding this same drug dealer. With this very important tip in hand, they were able to set up surveillance on the suspect.
After almost a month of working that investigation, agents secured search warrants for the suspect’s home and vehicle.
Upon searching the premises and vehicle, agents confiscated over 200 grams of heroin, 26 grams of cocaine, 20 grams of bath salts, over $3,000 in cash and a loaded .45-caliber handgun, which the suspect said he got in a trade for $60 worth of heroin.
The suspect, Josh Rodario Russell, was charged with:
- Five counts of sale of heroin;
- Five counts of using a two-way communication device while committing a felony;
- Possession of cocaine with intent to sell; and
- One count of heroin trafficking.
With this one arrest, police in Delray Beach were proud to say that they “were able to rid the City of Delray Beach of over $10,000 worth of illegal substances.”
