Police investigating three suitcases filled with human remains found along Intercoastal Waterway
At 4:03 p.m. on July 21, Florida’s Delray Beach Police Department received a 911 call regarding a suspicious item seen in the water along the intracoastal waterway near the 1000-block of Palm Trail in Delray Beach. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a suitcase with human remains inside. A short time later, two other suitcases were found also containing human remains at nearby locations – by SE 7th Avenue and Casuarina Road – areas that are both along the intracoastal waterway.
Early in the investigation, officials declared the case a homicide and were able to determine that the remains were those of one adult female. The woman’s identity and how long she had been dead are still unknown. The victim’s remains were taken to the medical examiner’s office.
On July 23, the Delray Police Department shared a few updates, saying that the female victim appeared to be either a white or Hispanic middle-aged woman with brown hair and approximately 5’4″ tall. She may have had tattooed eyebrows; and she was wearing a floral tank top with a black undershirt and black mid-thigh shorts.
The pattern on the floral shirt she was wearing is provided in the photo displayed below.
Now, authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in helping to identify the murder victim. Anyone with any information about this crime is asked to call Delray Beach Police Detective Mike Liberta at 561-243-7874.
