Police make arrest in Middle River rape and shooting murder
Just before midnight on August 19, Baltimore County Police received a call for a shooting in the 200-block of Shagbark Road in Middle River, Maryland. Officers arrived and found the victim, a 44-year-old male inside the house. The seriously injured shooting victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
On August 23, police identified the victim as Curtis Jerome McKisset. Baltimore County Police Homicide detectives had already begun investigating the shooting as a murder.
Also on August 23, police identified the suspect in that murder as 22-year-old Deontae Maurice Banks, who has a residence listed as being in the unit block of Cornbury Court in Owings Mills. Banks has been charged with first degree murder, first degree rape and armed robbery.
Homicide detectives determined that the suspect went to the house on Shagbark Road to meet with a female. Once inside the house, the suspect stole money and sexually assaulted the woman. Afterwards, Banks and the victim, Curtis Jerome McKisset, had an argument that resulted in Banks pulling out a handgun and shooting McKisset.
Banks is currently being held at the Baltimore County Department of Corrections on denied bail status. Officials asked that if you have any information about this murder, to please contact the Baltimore County Police at 410-307-2020.
