Police save pit bull puppy overdosing on fentanyl (Video)
On September 8, California’s Irvine Police Department (IPD) announced the arrests of two people that were taken into custody at a local Walmart on narcotics possession charges. Police also reported that Irvine PD Officers saved the life of a pit bull puppy that was overdosing on fentanyl.
The puppy belonged to the two arrestees and was exposed to fentanyl inside their car – and began showing signs of overdosing. Police say that the officers gave the dog a dose of Narcan, and she immediately began to recover. An IPD officer quickly transported the dog to an emergency veterinarian for treatment.

Caleb Aaron Gibson, 29, of San Juan Capistrano, and Katherine Marylou Menke, 27, of Santa Ana, were arrested. Police say that they asked the District Attorney to charge the pair with felony animal cruelty and possession of narcotics.
The Irvine Police posted a video to their Facebook page of the officers providing the pup with that dose of Narcan and then comforting the pup afterwards. You can see that video by clicking on the image below.

In March, the Food and Drug Administration approved selling naloxone – better known by its brand name, Narcan – without a prescription. The nasal spray, which has been hailed as life-saving, has also been found to work effectively on dogs. ~ The Guardian
