On October 1 at approximately 11:43 p.m., the Hagerstown Police Department responded to Funkhouser Park at 570 Jefferson Boulevard for a 911 hang up call. Upon their arrival, officers located a deceased female in the park, close to Jefferson Boulevard.

Detectives were called to the scene and the deceased was identified as 37-year-old Amy Lynn Heath from Hagerstown, Maryland.

Through their investigation, detectives learned that Heath was possibly in the company of a man wearing unknown dark clothing.

The Hagerstown police described that man as a black male, approximately 5’6”, and weighing 150 pounds.  Detectives say the man was pushing a hotel luggage cart in the area of Jefferson Boulevard and Cleveland Avenue. At the time of her death, Heath was wearing white shoes, white jeans, and a black shirt.

Heath’s body was sent to the office of the Medical Examiner. Police are still awaiting results from her autopsy.  The authorities consider her death to be suspicious and are continuing their investigation.

Police spokesperson Lt. Rebecca Fetchu said she could not comment on whether Heath’s body showed signs of trauma; and she stopped short of characterizing Heath’s death as a murder.

“That’s part of what we’re waiting for from the autopsy report,” Fetchu said. “They’ll do their thorough investigation and examination and that would point us in the right direction.”  ~ Herald Mail Media

Detectives are asking anyone who may have seen Heath or the above-described male on Friday October 1 to please contact the Hagerstown Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at (301) 790-3700 ext. 247.
