Police shoot and kill murder suspect inside home of TV’s ‘Tarzan’ Ron Ely
This morning at 1.07 a.m., California time, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies tweeted that they were on the scene of a possible homicide in the Hope Ranch area. Officials were responding to a call regarding a domestic disturbance. When they arrived on the scene, they discovered a dead woman inside the home.
That home belongs to actor Ron Ely of TV’s “Tarzan” fame. Officials say that deputies pursued a murder suspect that they found at Ely’s home after 10 p.m.
Lt. Erik Raney, spokesman for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, said that a call for help came from Ely’s home. Raney also said that when deputies arrived at Ely’s residence located in the 4100 block of Mariposa Drive in Hope Ranch, they found “an elderly woman who had been stabbed to death.”
Santa Barbara County sheriff’s deputies on Tuesday shot and killed a suspect linked to the death of a woman at a Southern California home owned by 1960s “Tarzan” actor Ron Ely, according to Fox News.
Deputies were searching the property when they came across their suspect who they said was hiding inside Ely’s home. Police said that multiple deputies felt forced to fire upon the suspect – feeling that the suspect posed a threat when located, according to KEYT-TV in Santa Barbara.
Officials reported that Ely was safe – but could not confirm if there was any relationship between the actor and the female murder victim.
Ely, now 81, was a familiar face on the small screen in the 60s. In addition to portraying the lead role on TV’s “Tarzan” from 1966 – 1968, he was also frequently guest starring in shows like “The Love Boat” and “Fantasy Island.”
