Pregnant woman shot and killed in Maryland, baby delivered in critical condition
Police in Howard County, Maryland, reported that a pregnant woman was shot while she was inside a home in Columbia, Maryland. The shooting occurred on Friday night, July 31. Tragically, the woman, identified as 30-year-old Rabiah Ahmad, has died from her injuries.
Police say that Ahmad was 28 weeks pregnant at the time of the shooting. Doctors successfully delivered her baby, who is in critical condition. No one else inside that residence was injured in the shooting.
At approximately 11 p.m., police responded to the 6600 block of Dovecote Drive for a report of several gunshots. Police discovered that multiple bullets had been fired into the house from the outside. One of the rounds struck Ahmad, who was staying at the residence.
She was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center where she later died.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the shooting. They are working to determine if someone in the house may have been targeted, as numerous unrelated people reside in the Dovecote residence. There are not yet any suspects in the shooting.
Police are urging residents in the area to check their doorbell or security cameras for any activity around 11 p.m. on Friday night.

Police are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information in the case.
