Prison sentence for Spring Hill man convicted on 100 counts of child porn charges
A Spring Hill, Florida, man identified as 49-year-old Steven Sims, who was charged with 100 counts of Possession of Child Pornography back in 2023, was recently sentenced to 15 years in prison with an additional five years of Sex Offender probation.
Background: Last year, the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office received information that a Spring Hill man was possibly in possession of child pornography. On April 5, 2023, Hernando County Sheriff’s Office deputies executed a court authorized search warrant at Sims’ home, located in the 10000 block of Gifford Drive in Spring Hill. During the search, a cellphone belonging to Sims was located.
The initial search of the cellphone located at least 10 files containing child pornography. Following that initial discovery, Sums was arrested on 10 counts of Possession of Child Pornography and transported to the Hernando County Detention Center.
The following day, on April 6, a forensic exam was completed on Sim’s cellphone which revealed an application which contained another 90 child pornography video files. Sims was then charged with an additional 90 counts of Possession of Child Pornography and had his bond set at $900,000.
On August 30, 2024, Sims was sentenced to 15 years in the Department of Corrections plus an additional five years of Sex Offender probation.
