Pro wrestler Cash Wheeler arrested on felony assault with firearm charge in Florida
Pro wrestling champ Daniel ‘Cash’ Wheeler, with All Elite Wrestling (AEW,) was arrested in Orlando and is now looking at a charge of aggravated assault with a firearm. The police in Orlando made the arrest on Friday morning when Wheeler voluntarily turned himself in to officials in Florida.
According to county records, Wheeler’s alleged offense was committed on July 27 and a warrant was issued July 28 for his arrest. On Aug. 3, his attorneys issued a written plea of not guilty, and his appearance at a pretrial conference was waived on that day. His arrest affidavit was filed Aug. 18 and a first appearance in court is expected. ~ MSN
Newsweek reports that the 36-year-old wrestler was ordered to stay away from any and all victims and witnesses involved in the case. He was also ordered to turn over any personal weapons, firearms, and ammunition he owns to the sheriff’s department, pending the outcome of the case.
Wheeler pleaded not guilty to the charge of aggravated assault with a firearm, which is a felony in Florida. Following his arrest, he was released on a $2,500 bond. At his hearing, the prosecutor in the case said that Wheeler allegedly brandished a gun during a road rage incident, according to Wrestling News.
“AEW has been made aware of the charge, and we are closely monitoring the situation,” an AEW spokesperson said in a statement to Newsweek. “He is fully cooperating with local authorities.”
Wheeler and his tag-team wrestling partner Dax Harwood both hold AEW World Tag Team Championship titles – and the two are still scheduled to defend their titles against the Young Bucks at AEW ALL IN: London on Sunday, August 27. There is currently no word if Wheeler’s arrest will impact that match.
