Rapper XXXTentacion shot and killed in broad daylight in Florida robbery attempt
The Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) reported that the young man shot and killed yesterday in Deerfield Beach, Florida, has positively been identified as 20-year-old Jahseh Onfroy, also known as rapper XXXTentacion. According to police, the victim was born in Plantation and was leaving RIVA Motorsports in Deerfield Beach shortly before 4 p.m. when he was approached by two armed suspects in an apparent robbery attempt.
At least one of the suspects fired a gun striking Onfroy. Both suspects fled in a dark-color SUV. Onfroy was transported to Broward Health North where he was pronounced dead around 5:30 p.m.
According to ABC News, Onfroy was supposed to be serving house arrest at his home in Parkland at the time of the shooting. The rapper was embroiled in a domestic violence case and was looking at charges which included battery, false imprisonment and witness tampering. His house arrest was supposed to last until March 21. He had pleaded not guilty to all those charges which were based in Miami-Dade County.
In a previously recorded video posted to Instagram, the hip-hop artist can be heard saying: “If I’m going to die or ever be a sacrifice, I want to make sure that my life made at least 5 million kids happy, or they found some sort of answers or resolve in my life, regardless of the negative around my name, regardless of the bad things people say to me … I appreciate and love all of you and I believe in you all. Do not let your depression make you. Do not let your body define your soul; let your soul define your body.”
Kanye West tweeted his condolences: “rest in peace man, you were such an inspiration my prayers are with your family and friends every life is worthy of living”
