Rapper Young Dolph shot and killed in Memphis bakery

On November 17, Chief CJ Davis with the Memphis Police Department, tweeted that her officers responded to the scene of a shooting at 2370 Airways in Tennessee. When officers arrived at the scene of Makeda’s Homemade Cookies, one male victim was located and pronounced dead at the scene. No suspect information was available or shared by the Chief at the time of her announcement.
The preliminary information determined that the victim was Adolph Robert Thornton, Jr., aka, 36-year-old rapper, Young Dolph.
The shooting is another example of the senseless gun violence we are experiencing locally and nationwide. Our hearts go out to the Thornton family and all who are affected by this horrific act of violence. ~ Chief CJ Davis
The owner of the cookie shop where the shooting occurred, told FOX13 that his employees said Young Dolph walked into the store to buy some cookies. Someone then drove up and shot and killed him while he was inside the South Memphis bakery.
Young Dolph released his first album “King of Memphis” in 2016, according to CBS News. The album peaked at No. 49 on the Billboard charts and his hits included “Get Paid” and “1 Scale.”
As of early this morning, no information on the shooter has been released. Memphis Police have encouraged anyone with any information on the shooting to call CrimeStoppers at (901) 528-CASH.
