Reward offered for identity of armed robbery suspect leaving Florida Lowe’s store
On November 8, in the hopes of identifying a would-be armed robber, the Broward Sheriff’s Office released a video depicting a suspect walking into an Oakland Park, Florida, Lowe’s store looking like a customer – but exiting the store as a foiled robber – after displaying his gun to the store’s prevention specialist officer. Broward Sheriff’s Office robbery detectives released the store’s surveillance video of the September robbery attempt in the hopes that someone can identify the suspect.
Around 1:30 p.m. on September 22, the male suspect enters the Lowe’s located at 1001 W. Oakland Park Blvd. through the garden section and begins “pretending” to shop. Video shows the suspect, who spends nearly an hour in the store, putting items into a shopping cart. He leaves the store and returns several times. At one point, he comes back with an altered appearance, wearing a white T-shirt replacing his screen-printed black shirt.
The robbery suspect eventually places the cart that is filled with about $2,300 worth of lawn and house products near an emergency door exit. But when he tries to leave through the alarm-activated door, the store’s loss prevention specialist approaches him.
That’s when, according to the store employee, the suspect lifts his shirt to reveal a firearm in his waistband. The robber is ordered to leave and does so empty-handed.
That armed robbery suspect is described as being about 5 feet 11 inches tall, approximately 180 pounds and wearing jeans and dark-colored shoes.
