Reward offered for information on shooting death of D.C. police officer killed in Baltimore
Tony Anthony Mason Jr., 40, a sergeant and 17-year veteran of the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C. was fatally shot while sitting in a parked car on Elgin Avenue in Baltimore City in the early morning hours of November 4. An unidentified female sitting in the car with Mason was also shot. According to MSN, both Mason and the female were transported to a nearby hospital where Mason died from his gunshot wounds.
The 43-year-old woman was shot in the leg and is expected to survive her injuries. Police in Baltimore said that an unknown suspect approached the parked car around 12:45 a.m. on Saturday morning, shot Mason and the woman and then fled on foot. That shooting suspect is still on the loose. WTOP reported that Mason had been shot multiple times.
WJLA reported that Mason was off-duty at the time of the shooting and that he worked as an undercover officer with the D.C. Metro Police’s vice office. Mason had also served as a police officer in the U.S. Army for five years. Mason was a Baltimore resident who commuted to D.C. for his job. Police in Baltimore are handling the investigation into Mason’s death.
Baltimore’s Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives division is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information about the shooting.
