Rod Stewart and son plead guilty to battery involving security guard at Breakers Hotel
On December 17, singer Rod Stewart and his son both pleaded guilty to a charge of simple battery dating back to a 2019 New Year’s Eve altercation when the elder Stewart punched a security guard at the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida. Stewart’s son, Sean, also got into it with the security guard.
Footage from hotel cameras from that night revealed that Stewart and his son were the “primary aggressors,” a Palm Beach Police Department probable cause affidavit obtained by CNN affiliate WPTV at the time said.

The New Year’s Eve surveillance video from the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, did show rock star Rod Stewart and his son, Sean Stewart, beating up on a security guard employed by the hotel after the guard denied the iconic singer and his family access to a private party being held at the Breakers.
Stewart, 74, told police he and his family were trying to get the children in their group access to a private event at the hotel, according to a Palm Beach Police Department probable cause affidavit obtained by CNN affiliate WPTV.
The security guard working the event in the children’s area said Stewart’s group was unauthorized to enter and asked them to leave after they “began to get loud and cause a scene,” the affidavit states. ~ CNN
After security guard Jessie Dixon informed the Stewarts that they weren’t authorized to enter the private gig, he told officials that Stewart’s group “became loud and began causing a scene.” Dixon then told police that he had to put his hand on Sean Stewart’s chest and told the younger Stewart to “back up.”
That’s when Sean Stewart, the rock star’s 39-year-old son, got “nose to nose” with Dixon.
Sean Stewart then shoved Dixon backwards. Rod Stewart, 74, punched Dixon in his “left rib cage area” with a closed fist, the report said. ~ ABC News
Police said that Sean Stewart told them that he got miffed when Dixon wouldn’t allow his group into that private event. Employees at the Breakers said that “they saw Sean Stewart push Dixon and Rod Stewart punch the guard,“ according to KTLA. Police also said that after viewing video footage of the incident, that they determined the Stewart boys to be the “primary aggressors.”
Security guard Jessie Dixon signed an affidavit to the effect that he wished to pursue pressing charges against both Rod and Sean Stewart. Both Stewarts are facing simple battery charges.
WPTV reported that Rod Stewart owns a home in Palm Beach, not far from the Breakers Hotel.
