(Updated 12/30/2024 7:35 p.m.) On December 29, police in Baltimore County provided an update to the horrific and tragic Christmas Eve shootings in Rosedale, Maryland, where four people were shot (including the shooter) and where one four-year-old boy died from the gunfire.

On Tuesday, December 24 at approximately 6:35 a.m., officers responded to a home on Breslin Court in Rosedale for reports of a shooting. Once on the scene, officers located an adult female along with two juveniles suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to their upper bodies. Medics transported the three victims to an area hospital, where one juvenile was pronounced deceased.

An adult male, believed to be the suspect in this case, sustained a self-inflicted gunshot and was also transported to an area hospital. That adult male was the father of the four-year-old boy who died; and that father has now been arrested and charged with the murder of his son.

Baltimore County detectives arrested 30-year-old Mark C. Jones in the fatal shooting of his son, four-year-old Jacobi Jones, and the non-fatal shooting of two others. Jones is currently being detained at the Baltimore Detention Center held without bond. The second juvenile injured in the shootings was Jones’ one-year-old daughter; and the injured woman was Jones’ wife, according to WMAR2 News in Baltimore.

CBS News in Baltimore quoted Baltimore County Police Chief Robert McCullough as saying, “We recognize that this time of year can be difficult for some people, so we do recommend if anyone is experiencing depression or any problems this time of year feel free to call 988. Or if you see something brewing, or feel like something’s brewing in your home, please contact your local police department, and we will be glad to respond to assist.”

Police also wanted the public to know that the shootings on Breslin Court stemmed from an isolated domestic dispute, and that there is no threat to the community at this time.
