Second woman arrested in the Nov. 5 shooting murder that was live streamed on social media
Yesterday, police in Sanford, Florida, announced the arrest of a second woman, Lakevia Davonna Pringle, 41, who was involved in the November 5 shooting murder of Lauren Ashley Martin. The day after the shooting, the first shooting suspect, Savon Chantay Tyler, 35, was arrested and charged with Martin’s first-degree homicide. Police had been searching for Pringle ever since the shooting went town at the Greystone Townhomes in Sanford, located about 25 miles south of Orlando.
In a macabre turn to this tragic story, Lauren Martin’s murder was live streamed on social murder.
Background: On November 05 just after 7:00 P.M., Sanford Police officers responded to a shooting in the area of 1771 Travertine Terrace. Upon their arrival, officers located 34-year-old Lauren Ashley Martin lying in the roadway – suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Lauren was transported to a local area hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries.
Based on the investigation conducted by the Sanford Police Department, it was determined that Lauren drove to Tyler’s residence regarding an ongoing argument. Both Lauren and Tyler engaged in a verbal altercation, which then escalated to a physical altercation. During the altercation, Tyler shot Lauren multiple times.
Police investigators said at the time that they were aware that the shooting was live streamed on social media and that they were in possession of the live stream videos.
Savon Chantay Tyler was arrested the day after the shooting and charged with one count of First-Degree Homicide. Also charged in connection to Martin’s murder was a second suspect, Lakevia Davonna Pringle.
Pringle was present during the altercation which she live-streamed to social media. While live streaming, Pringle can be heard encouraging Tyler to continue the altercation, which led to the homicide of Lauren. Multiple attempts to interview Pringle were unsuccessful due to her lack of cooperation.
On November 8, Pringle turned herself in at the Sanford Police Department. Investigators took Pringle into custody and transported her to John E. Polk Correctional Facility without further incident. Pringle has been charged with Principal in the First Degree to First Degree Premeditated Homicide.
Following the shooting, Sanford PD’s Chief Cecil Smith said, “Today, a family is mourning the loss of a loved one, because someone chose to resolve a disagreement with violence. What started the argument between these two won’t be remembered, but the loss of Lauren will forever be with her family and friends. There are choices other than violence.”
Investigators are asking anyone with information on this crime to please contact the Sanford Police Department or Crimeline at 800 423-TIPS (8477) or visit www.crimeline.org.
