Seminole youth soccer coach charged with ‘Lewd or Lascivious Touching of a Minor’ female
On November 6, Florida’s Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit reported arresting 42-year-old Joel Avitia of 10619 Seminole Forest Street W in Seminole on charges of Indecent, Lewd or Lascivious Touching of a Minor.
Detectives began an investigation after they learned of inappropriate conduct occurring between Avitia and the female victim. Detectives say Avitia invited the young girl to his home and gave her money to go shopping. Avitia then proceeded to touch her inappropriately and told her not to tell anyone.
The victim immediately reported what occurred and law enforcement was contacted.
The Sheriff’s Office arrested Avitia on November 5 and transported him to the Pinellas County Jail. Due to the victim being a minor and younger than 18-years of age, no further details will be released that would tend to identify her.
