On November 29, Florida’s Martin County Sheriff’ Office (MCSO) reported that while the rest of us were enjoying our Thanksgiving Day holiday, 26-year old Gabriel Alejandro Martinez and 26-year old Jesus Eduardo Castro spent the day in Martin County stealing boat equipment.

“Martinez, who is from Miami Gardens, and Castro of Medley, Florida, made the mistake of assuming our Road Patrol Units were not at the top of their game for the holiday. They were wrong.”  ~ MCSO

The duo was caught during a traffic stop with multiple Garmin GPS devices in their vehicle. Detectives suspect the pair of stealing more than 20-units from victims throughout the area. Deputies also observed gloves, wire cutters and other burglary tools inside their vehicle.

The two boating equipment pirates, not happy with their Thanksgiving arrests, were both treated to a “buffet of charges” including:

  • vessel burglary,
  • possession of burglary tools, and
  • possession of a controlled substance.

As of yesterday, both Castro and Martinez were still being detained at the Martin County Jail.
